Welcome Class of 2016
Greetings Parents and Students of the Class of 2016!
Welcome to the University of Pennsylvania. As you prepare for your first year at Penn, we hope our website is a resource for helpful information about the IT support available to all College House residents, as well as guidelines for purchasing computers and accessories.
College House Computing has been a leader in providing on-campus residential IT support for College House residents year-round since 1998. All 11 College Houses have live-in student Information Technology Advisors (ITAs) who are trained to provide on-site IT support. ITAs staff the College House Help Desk, providing software support, such as virus removal or software installation, assistance connecting to the wireless and wired network, and help with hardware issues for both Windows and Apple computers. If our ITAs require assistance, there are 3 College House Computing full-time IT professionals on staff.
The 13 College House Computing labs provide students with an optimal computing environment for their academic needs within the comfort of their College House. There are approximately 220 PC and Mac workstations. All College Houses also have technology rich learning spaces available for residents to use for group projects and collaboration, individual academic work, or for their enjoyment. To view a list of where each lab is located and regular Help Desk hours: please visit our Help Desk Page. Most labs are open 24-7 to all College House residents.
Each year, College House Computing hires many student workers. Many are from the incoming freshman class. If you are interested in learning how to become and ITA and wish to apply for a position, please go to: http://www.rescomp.upenn.edu/itaapp
Once again, welcome Parents and Students of the Class 2016 to the University of Pennsylvania family. We look forward to assisting you with your computer needs when you arrive in September and throughout the academic year!
